Tampa Bay scored their 1st period goals and left Ranger fans contemplating another home loss/lame effort. But Sean Avery got hooked while on a breakaway early in period 2, and was awarded a penalty shot. Here we go...

Avery's 'superstar' move got the Rangers started, the 1st of their 4 2nd period goals, so let's serenade Sean: NY Rangers Goal Celebration Song
Vinnie Prospal (see top photo) put one in, Erik Christensen added 2 goals, and an empty netter by Chris Drury rounded out the scoring.

Olli Jokinen scored the game winner one minute into overtime, and somehow the boys stole a victory from Pittsburgh in their barn. WooHoo! It's not all good news, tho. Marian Gaborik was limited to just a few minutes of action with his gashed leg, and Michael Del Zotto missed all but a minute, as he suffered a cut to his midsection on his first shift. Good Grief!

Sid Crosby had a goal in the 1st and another in the 3rd, Brandon Dubinsky and Vinny Prospal had 2nd period goals. Here's Vinny on the rush:

guh. Marian Gaborik missed the game after he was cut by a skate during practice. The Blueshirts manage only 1 goal. I see a connection, and so do you. Still, the boys piled 38 shots on Nashville netminder Dan Ellis, so that's encouraging. *sigh*
The moment of the night was the singing of the Star Spangled Banner by 15-year-old Bianca Muniz, a Make-a-Wish youngster from Hudson Valley Make-a-Wish. (see above photo)

guh. Once again, Marian Gaborik was all of the offense, and this time it wasn't enough. Olli Jokinen, (acquired with Brandon Prust in a trade with Calgary for Chris Higgins and Ales Kotalik) made his Ranger debut, centering the top line with Gaborik and Prospal.
The boys go 1-2 on the road trip. Alex (Oh no not) Ovechkin and the Capitals at MSG on Thursday night...
