Records are made to be broken...

And Jaromir Jagr broke the NYR record for assists with 4 on the night, while Henrik Lundqvist broke the NYR record for wins by a rookie netminder, with his 30th win of the season. Throw in a 'natural' hat trick by Martin Straka, and a goal by Petr Puck, and it all adds up to:
Rangers 5, Islanders 1.
YAY!!!
Records Falling
As usual for a game in Uniondale on Long Isaland, the place was at least half filled with Ranger fans. You can see a few in the background of this photo. (taken by John Dunn for the New York Times)

Comeback!

Rangers 5, Sabres 4
YAY!!
Comeback!

Jagr tied the NY Ranger records for goals in a season (52 T-Adam Graves) and assists (109 T-Jean Ratelle), and ignited the third period comeback from a 4-2 deficit. Rookie goalie Henrik Lundqvist entered the game in the third period, and held Buffalo to no goals the remainder of the game, including overtime and the shootout. He tied the NYR record for wins by a rookie goaltender at 29. Petr Sykora scored the only goal during the shootout and with the win, the Blueshirts take back sole posession of first place in the Atlantic Division.
And they looked rather snappy in the Statue Of Liberty Jerseys, I must say.
Me So Happy!! Let's Go Rangers!!

I get my NYR photos here!

Deja-vu all over again

Just as they did against Florida, the boys come back to tie and force overtime, but cannot win the shootout.
Lightning 4, Rangers 3
Eleven games to go, and tied for first in the Atlantic Div. with Philly.
We Get The Point.

Tonight, they shall cross swords with the Sabres at MSG. Let's Go Ranguhs!

One More Milestone for Mr. M.V.P.

Panthers 3, Rangers 2 (Shootout)
Hmm.
Jaromir Jagr became only the third Ranger to reach 50 goals in a season, (Adam Graves and Vic Hadfield are the others) but couldn't quite complete the 'Forsberg' move in the Shootout. So the Rangers get one point for the tie, and move ahead of idle Philly into first place in the Atlantic division.
Milestone for Jagr

Tonight they face the defending Stanley Cup Champion Tampa Bay Lightning.

me so angry.

A Hat Trick from Jags, and so the boys decided, 'Hey, that's all we need.'
Wrong! Flyers 6, Rangers 3.

A Hat Trick, But No Treat

Frak!
I hate the Flyers,
I really do.

Streaking at MSG...

Rangers 5, Bruins 2. YAY!!
Beatin' the B's
Hugs for everyone!
Hugs ok. Kisses, not so much.

Former teamate Mark Messier on Brian Leetch: "He'd be the first guy that would want nothing, because he's never been a guy that's wanted to be in the spotlight or to be singled out individually, certainly playing in a team game. That's just not his style. But he deserves to be noticed as one of the greatest Rangers ever, if not the greatest Ranger ever."
"I certainly don't expect to be booed," said Leetch. He was right. Ranger fans cheered loud and long before, during and after the game for their returning hero.

Oh, I hope so!
Winning is Fun!

Breaking Ranger records, Leading the NHL in scoring, and serenaded with chants of "M.V.P. ! M.V.P.!"
Jaromir Jagr, 4 more points last night:
M.V.P.! M.V.P.!

For Those About To Cheer, We Salute You!
Salute!

Tonight is the first return to the Garden (since being traded last season, man, what a crime that was.) for the best defenseman in NYR history, Brian Leetch.
He will be met with the chant of " Bring Him Back! Bring Him Back!"

By the gods, A Victory!

Jaromir Jagr's end-to-end rush is the kind of 'Superstar' moment the Blueshirts have been missing over the past couple of weeks, and it coudn't have come at a better time.
Rangers 5, Capitals 4 YAY!!

Jagr crashed into the end boards after scoring the goal. "After you score, it doesn't hurt that much," he said. "If he would have made the save, I would have probably cried."
A win!

5 losses in arow, all by one goal.
The good news is, I just saved a bundle on my car insurance.

Rangers can't put biscuit in basket

Aaarrrggghh!
Habs 1 - NYR 0.
On a night when Montreal honored hero Bernie 'Boom Boom' Geoffrion, the Rangers had no artillery that could penetrate the Canadien net.

Rangers vs.Thrashers tonight at MSG. Score some goals, boys.

A 'Sticky' Situation.

Thrashers win the shootout, and the Rangers lose their third in a row. The one point the boys salvage for the regulation tie gets a (muted) *yay*
Jagr had an eventful night: a power-play goal, and a penalty for illegal curvature of his stick. But wait, there's more. When the time came for the shootout, the players' sticks were checked by the refs, and again Jagr had an illegal stick, and was ineligible for the shootout. The Blueshirts could've used him, obviously.
Anyway, still in first place, with twenty games to go.
A string of wins WOULD BE NICE!
that's all I'm sayin'.

The boys hadn't lost at home in over a month, but now we're looking at a 2 game losing streak. And we do not like the looks of that.
*makes stern face*
Their hot goalie (Martin Gerber) was just a bit hotter than Henrik, so whaddygonnado?

Winning Isn't Everything,

But a win over the Flyers comes mighty close.
Rangers 6 Flyers 1. YAY!!
Gold medalist Henrik Lundqvist gets the night off, and Kevin Weekes is very strong in the net. (36 saves out of 37 shots!)
Jagr continues his MVP-like ways with 2 more power play goals.
Seven in a row!

Longest winning streak since 1993. That does not suck.
