May Schedule. Guitar yes. Sitar no.

Hey Everybody, I recently discovered that my Martin D-35 acoustic guitar is capable of doing sitar impressions. The trouble is, I DON'T want my guitar to be sounding like a sitar. If I wanted to add a sitar sound to my, um, *cough* act, I'd ask Anoushka Shankar to join my one-man-band.
Anoushka with sitar
(Dear Anoushka, my offer of marriage still stands)

Anyway, you're all invited to come on out this month and see if I'm everything I crack myself up to be.
And make fun of my guitar/sitar impressions. I'm bringing the guitar in for repairs very soon, so laugh now while you can. HAH!

Well,
I'm not gonna lie- I dribbled the drool of regret onto the pillow of remorse after the Rangers got swept by the Devils. But despite losing the last 9 games of the season (incl. playoffs) it was a good year for the Blueshirts.
At the end of game 4, the Garden faithful actually began the 'Let's Go Rangers!' cheer and kept it up during the traditional post-series handshake. Classy touch from a not always classy bunch, and the team obviously appreciated the gesture. Way to go fans! Way to go team! YAY!
Meanwhile the NHL playoffs continue, and I'm rooting for my brother's team, the Buffalo Sabres. Go Sabes!

I'm telling myself that is better to have made the playoffs and lost, than to never have made the playoffs at all.

Devils 4, Rangers 1
Dug A Big Blueshirt Hole
Look on the bright side, the boys gave up 2 fewer goals against.
No Jagr, no Kasparitis, no offense, no defense.
Memo to Sandis Ozolinsh: I know you were brought to NY for your ability to put the puck into the net, but NOT OUR OWN NET!!! Gah!

Gah! The only good news is, because of work, I did not have to witness the carnage. phew!
C'mon boys stay out of the sin-bin and at least keep your wits about you.

Don't Look Now...

Devils 3, Rangers 2
Don't look now...
Devils come back with 2 goals in the third period. New Jersey have now won 7 in a row and they are just a bit behind Philly, and therefore just a bit more behind New York for first place in the Alantic Division. YIKES!
Devils are closing in

A Comeback and A Milestone!

Another milestone for Jaromir Jagr, as he scored his 53rd goal of the season, breaking the Ranger record once held by Adam Graves.
Milestone: Jags Passes Gravy
Michael Nylander scored 2, including the game-winner in ot. During a postgame interview, he also managed to slip an S-bomb past the NBC censor. Woo!

Weekes is the shootout hero, and the game's first star. Fans go wild, "Weekes! Weekes!"
We Make the Playoffs!

What makes this particularly sweet is the fact that they beat Philly to make the playoffs, (for the first time since 1997) and as you may recall,
I hate the frelling Flyers,
I really do.

Records are made to be broken...

And Jaromir Jagr broke the NYR record for assists with 4 on the night, while Henrik Lundqvist broke the NYR record for wins by a rookie netminder, with his 30th win of the season. Throw in a 'natural' hat trick by Martin Straka, and a goal by Petr Puck, and it all adds up to:
Rangers 5, Islanders 1.
YAY!!!

As usual for a game in Uniondale on Long Isaland, the place was at least half filled with Ranger fans. You can see a few in the background of this photo. (taken by John Dunn for the New York Times)
